"Caritas" in Latin terms means Love - Charity. Caritas is a sign of God's love for everyone, a free and borderless love. Caritas testifies to God's love among us, a love for all peoples, especially for the poor.

Principle of operation

Caritas operates according to the Christian moral principles and Social Instruction of the Catholic Church:

• Protect human dignity and human life everywhere and every time
• Engage in poverty reduction by prioritizing the poor
• Maintain unity in the Caritas Family
• Stocking solidarity and collaborating locally and internationally
• Protecting a clean and healthy living environment.

Caritas International

Caritas Internationalis (Caritas Internationalis) is a charitable organization on the global scope of the Catholic Church, consisting of 165 members. This organization was established in 1951, currently operating in over 200 territories. Caritas International Headquarters is located in the Vatican; has offices in New York (USA), Geneva (Switzerland) and works with other international organizations.

Caritas Internationalis operates in three main areas: emergency relief, sustainable development and peace building regardless of religion, nation, or race.

CARITAS GENERAL OF HO CHI MINH CITY

CARITAS GENERAL DEPARTMENT OF HO CHI MINH CITY is an organization of social charity activities under the Vietnam Episcopal Conference, established in 1965.
Since June 1976, CARITAS HO CHI MINH CITY is required to stop operating.
On July 2, 2008, CARITAS GENERAL OF HO CHI MINH CITY re-operated. In March 2011, CARITAS GENERAL OF HO CHI MINH CITY joined Caritas Asia and became an official member of Caritas Internationalis in May 2011.

The community performs charity in the spirit of the Gospel, building a culture of love and civilization.

Mission

1. Conscious of practicing the Word of God with a life of charity, sharing in Christians.
2. Help CBCV perform social charity activities according to the goals and principles set out.
3. Collaborate with charitable charities in and outside the country to carry out social charity activities.
4. Coordinate with Diocesan Caritas to organize social charity activities, implement programs and projects as planned.

The target of CARITAS GENERAL DEPARTMENT OF HCMC is the people, giving priority to the poor, both material and spiritual, abandoned, marginalized, lack of basic living conditions of people.
